Its so easy to forget how fucking awesome New York City is when you are so close to the ground of it.
Today I witnessed: animal abuse, people abuse, cops being assholes, bystanders staring at fights and laughing, creepy guys trying to hit on me, bums who try to bum cigarettes off me, a crazy man trying to lift and throw a 100 pound rock and yelling at the sky and no one in particular, a stranger asking me to borrow my cell phone (I let her, though I had some misgivings about letting her as per my recent misfortune with my old cell phone), and a man who got pissed off at the employees of a store for closing when they did.
This video by Christian Gaugg is titled “The Elegance of New York City” and it is definitely a good reminder why I do love it here after seeing someone who appreciates almost everything that I hate about it. His description for the video:
Shot on a trip to New York City in April 2012. I instantly fell in love with this wonderful city and it’s buoyant people.
I was stunned by the architecture, the parks and the masses of people, so I didn’t quite get everything that I would have wanted to on film. Even though I like how the film turned out, it doesn’t do it fully justice.
All I know is, that I need to come back, because my heart is still there.
WTF IS THIS BULLLLLLLLLSHITTTTT
I recently found out that renouned designer, architectural designer, and artist Allan Wexler is going to be my professor at Parsons this spring.
He’s the one that did the amazing chair and table designs in Hudson River Park off the West Side Highway in New York City! I’ve sat here so many times its crazy he’s going to be teaching me. I hope we become best friends.
